TORONTO -- Aug. 12, 2022 update: This tracker is no longer being maintained but it will continue to be available as an archive. As the collection and dissemination of provincial COVID-19 data has evolved over time, we've made available a new version of the tracker here, which includes U.S. state data.
How do Canadian provinces and territories compare to American states in terms of COVID-19 cases? We鈥檝e calculated reported cases per million people each day of the pandemic to get an idea of how the two countries stack up. During the first two waves of the pandemic, Canada鈥檚 highest-reporting regions were low compared to places south of the border. But in the third wave, that鈥檚 changed. As of mid April, Canada鈥檚 seven-day average reached its highest point of the pandemic.
