VIENNA, Austria - Syria has agreed to let inspectors into the country this month to investigate allegations of illegal nuclear activity, the chief of the International Atomic Energy Agency said Monday.
Mohamed ElBaradei said his experts will visit Syria between June 22 and 24.
The inspectors plan to investigate a site that Israeli warplanes destroyed in September.
The United States has said that the site held a plutonium-producing reactor that was built secretly and with help from North Korea.
But neither Israel nor the U.S. told the IAEA about the Syrian site until late April.
ElBaradei repeated his criticism of Israel and the U.S. in announcing the Syrian visit, taking Washington to task for waiting so long to brief him on its suspicions, and Jerusalem for its air strike.
