BRIDGEWATER, N.S. - The mother and family of a Nova Scotia girl are making a renewed plea for her to call home after five days of searching have produced no sign of the 12-year-old.

Penny Boudreau says she desperately needs to know if her daughter Karissa Boudreau "is OK'' and would be happy just to hear her voice on the telephone.

Seated next to the girl's biological father, Boudreau's current common-law partner, and several aunts, the mother pleaded with the public for any information.

Police say they're coming up empty in the search for Karissa despite numerous tips of possible sightings, a ground search and a helicopter search.

The Grade 6 student was reported missing Sunday evening after she disappeared following an argument with her mother.

Sgt. John Collyer, acting deputy chief of Bridgewater police, says it's possible that she has left the province, though there's no firm evidence on that either.

He says it's unusual for someone Karissa's age to be missing for so long and not contact anyone.
