VICTORIA - Prime Minister Stephen Harper has announced another round of funding in British Columbia from a program aimed at improving infrastructure at Canadian colleges and universities.
The two-year, $2-billion Knowledge Infrastructure Program was unveiled in the January budget as part of the Conservative government's stimulus spending.
During a stop in Victoria Harper said $35 million in funding will go to 12 post-secondary institutions in the province.
That money will be combined with $33 million from the B.C. government and almost $5 million from other sources, including the individual schools.
Ottawa has periodically handed out money throughout the country during the past several months, and has already announced $202 million in federal cash for 29 projects in B.C.
That first round of B.C. funding was matched by $253 million from the province.
