Audiences at Elton Johnâs concert in Verona, Italy got an earful on Thursday, when â in-between songs â the crooner let loose against the U.K.
âI am a European,â said John, sitting at his piano onstage. âNot a stupid, colonial, imperialist, English idiot.â
John also commented that he was âsick to death of Brexitâ and of âpoliticians â especially British ones.â
Before launching into his song âBelieve,â John told the audience that he âwants more love in the worldâ after despairing over the antics of his home country.
âIâm ashamed of my country, and what it has done,â he said. âItâs torn people apart.â
John is currently on his final world tour after decades in the music industry.
