A new study conducted by researchers in the United States is shedding light on what has caused some people to lose their sense of smell after being infected with COVID-19.

For many, this loss in their ability to smell has been temporary but for others, their sense of smell has remained impaired for months or even years after infection. One study published in July 2022 predicts that as many as 5.6 per cent of COVID-19 survivors could experience long-term issues with their sense of smell, which translates to about 15 million people.

When it comes to the long-term effects of COVID-19, much remains unknown, and there is currently no way of clearly diagnosing or treating long COVID, . If you are currently living with long COVID and experiencing symptoms such as persistent loss of smell, chest pain, fatigue or difficulty breathing, we want to hear from you.

What symptoms are you experiencing and how long have they lasted? What impact is long COVID having on your day-to-day life? Are you undergoing any treatment?
