The Internet was not kind to "The Martian" Saturday night, after it took home best picture and best actor honours in the Golden Globes' Musical or Comedy category.
The film was bizarrely lumped in with genuine comedies like "Spy" and "Trainwreck" at the Globes, in a blatant ploy to get the film an award or two to bolster its Oscar campaign. But Golden Globes host was quick to point out the absurdity of the situation, sarcastically calling it a "hilarious comedy."
"'The Martian' was a lot funnier than 'Pixels,' but then again, so was 'Schindler's List,'" he said.
Twitter users were also merciless with the film, cracking joke after joke at its expense.
The Golden Globes classified The Martian as a comedy, which I find comedic.

Glad "The Martian" won for best comedy. Unrelated: I thought "Dumb and Dumber" was compelling drama about learning disabilities.
