BRIDGEWATER, N.S. - RCMP divers are in the LaHave River in Bridgewater, N.S., for a second day as the search for a missing 12-year-old girl continues.

Bridgewater police Sgt. John Collyer said divers expect to complete their sweep of an area just behind the grocery store where Karissa Boudreau's mother says she last saw her daughter.

"They've covered about half the area that they wished to cover and with negative results," he said Wednesday. "Today they were getting an early start with a view to finishing up that area."

An extensive search for Boudreau by divers on Tuesday turned up nothing. Police said they didn't expect to find any trace of the girl since the river was mostly iced over when she vanished Jan. 27.

However, Collyer said investigators are buoyed by a few new tips in the case. He wouldn't reveal any details, but said the most recent tips relate to possible sightings or other information in the province.

Boudreau's mother said the Grade 6 student at Bridgewater Elementary School was last seen when the two went to a local grocery store. She said they argued in the parking lot and when she returned from the store, her daughter was gone.
