Mounties who are out canvassing burned-out neighbourhoods in Fort McMurray have come across some “new friends” in the aftermath of the
Alberta RCMP have been tweeting photos of animals and pets who were left behind during the wildfire, which ravaged much of the Alberta town and sent residents fleeing on a moment’s notice.
RCMP said they found a pair of horses, a dog and Marshall the pet pig. Marshall was identified by his owner Michelle Coutu, who told CTV Edmonton she was happy to see her potbellied pet alive and well. Coutu fled the fires and is currently in Ontario.

On Saturday, RCMP tweeted a photo of a dog found by officers. The dog was given water before being taken to animal services.
